The missions of the Félix d'Hérelle Center are to collect, conserve and distribute reference phages and information about them to foster research and education. The collection serves as repository for key phages of historical, geographical, taxonomic, agricultural, medical, veterinary or industrial significance. In addition, the Center provides documentation through its collection of approximately 6000 books or articles and welcomes visitors for training in phage biology. The collection also offers various services related to phage research such as electron microscope identification, genome analysis, and screening of bacterial strains for lysogeny.
